The month of April will be spent reviewing the 5th grade skills that student struggled with most on the Interim Test (benchmark). I have posted multiple videos and activities on Google Classroom that the students can use to review and practice as we prepare for the Math STAAR test on May 10th.

March 7-11

We will be taking our Benchmark test this week in Math, Reading and Science. Encourage your child to do their best and a good nights rest always helps too. We will try to mirror STAAR test week schedule (May 10-12). If your student brings their phone to school it will be collected and then returned to them after all testing for the day has finished. Make sure your student has a pair of wired headphones before the test on Tuesday.

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to the New Year. We will be moving into writing expressions using variables, the goal is to write an expression to solve for an unknown number (variable) the key is writing it using the correct order of operations (PEMDAS).

December 13-17

Looking forward to a great week to finish out the year. Full of Christmas Joy and Celebrations, I have provided a summary below to help keep the days straight. We will finish out our unit on Fractions Mon-Wed with some Christmas Activities. Thursday and Friday are both half days so please plan accordingly. Thursday is the 5th grade music program at 10:30am and you are welcome to check your student out at its conclusion. Friday is also an early release day and our class Christmas Party will be held from 9-10am in the gym, students are able to be checked out after 9:30am.

We have planned a Hot Cocoa Bar & Donuts as well as some games for our party on Friday. A sign up has been posted to REMIND for volunteers to help with games, all necessary materials will be provided and I will be there for set up to help get things going. We are also looking for some prizes (small toys/candy/gift cards/etc.) to be donated that we can use with the games send them by Tuesday, please. We are NOT doing a “penny Christmas” instead we are asking for $2 per student to help cover the cost of the food and drinks and materials for the games.
